In a press release today, the Council announced its decision to extend the temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees fleeing from Russia’s war until March 4, 2026.
The temporary protection mechanism was initially triggered on March 4, 2022. The extension announced today does not change the original decision in terms of the categories of persons covered by the temporary protection.
This move by the Council aims to provide continued support and stability for Ukrainians who have sought refuge in Europe amid the ongoing conflict in their home country.
