After several discussions on the draft of Benefit Corporation Chapter of the Company Act via vTaiwan Platform since 2016, many legislators/parties later proposed different versions of drafts with similar spirit and connotation in the past two years. An attached resolution was eventually formed after the consultation of the legislatures on 28 June 2018: “The Ministry of Economic Affairs should evaluate whether to regulate benefit corporation, profit with purpose-driven business, social enterprises, et cetera, with a Chapter or an Act within a year after this amendment.”
The objective of this conference is to provide the government authority with first-hand information as references through discussions with global Benefit Corporation legislation movement makers, attorney William H. Clark, Jr. from the USA (Appendix 1), attorney Marc Mazzeschi from Italy, a number of American and European congressmen (remote), and local scholars, legislators and social innovators about the necessity and feasibility of exploring social innovation into the Company Act.
Avv. Marco Mazzeschi was invited to participate in the session about “The Rise of the Global Legislation Movement of Benefit Corporation Law and Social Innovation” as a panelist.
